Hazel Colton - Freelance coach, mentor, tutor and assessor.
Gymnastics Qualifications: I have worked my way through the levels of gymnastics qualifications to 'High Performance Coach', also known as level 5, in Women's Artistic Gymnastics. I am also a Men's Artistic Gymnastics coach and currently coaching a team of development boys aiming at competitive gymnastics.
I am a qualified assessor for British Gymnastics to assess level 1 and 2 UKCC accredited Women's Artistic Gymnastics courses, and also level 3 modules. In addition, I am a qualified and accredited British Gymnastics 'Mentoring Course' tutor and 'Proficiency Coaching Award' tutor.
British Gymnastics Teacher's Gymnastics Awards - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced are also courses I am qualified to deliver.
I have been a qualified City and Guilds Assessor and Internal Verifier for over 15 years, putting this to good use assessing and verifying British Gymnastics and UKCC gymnastics awards, and also hold the First 4 Sport 'Assessing in Sport' qualification.
Gymnastics Experience: I have coached gymnastics at all levels for over 28 years, from recreational children to competitive gymnasts at national level. During the last 15 years I have taught gymnastics in schools, trained teachers in curriculum gymnastics, and supported schools, teachers and children with Key Step gymnastics and schools games.
From 2009 to January 2014, I worked for British Gymnastics as a development officer. In this full time role I supported community clubs, leisure centres and schools to develop. This provided much needed opportunities for children and young people of all abilities to take part and perform in gymnastics.
